Formentor Named in Top 3 Best European Beaches #
We’ve hit the big time! Formentor Beach is listed as one of the Top 3 best beaches in Europe and in the Top 25 in the world!
“Forget Ibiza. Mallorca is truly the Spanish beach destination that should be top of your list. The unparalleled beauty of the island beach is unmarred by over-development and offers a truly idyllic beach experience!” – Nick Wayland, TravMedia
If it wasn’t before, it is now! Mallorca is now firmly on beach-goers maps. Flight Network, a leading internet search engine and travel site, asked over 1,000 travel journalists, agencies, bloggers and editors to weigh in on their picks for the world’s best beaches. Mallorca’s very own Cala Formentor came in at #3 in Europe and #22 worldwide.
Natural Beauty #
With its breathtaking mountain views, white sands and crystal blue water, it’s no huge surprise Formentor, also known as Cala Pi de la Posada, is a local favorite. Now, we will be sharing our secret with the world. At about a kilometer long, and 12 meters in width, there is space for everyone to share.
Surrounded by pine forests, the area stays green year-round, even in the heat of summer, adding to its special charm.
Easy Access and Amenities #
As stated in Affordable Mallorca’s own Top 10 List, Formentor is more than just a beach. The amenities are superb and include toilets, wooden walkways appropriate for disabled visitors, water stations, info centers, and a variety of shops and cafes. Additionally, lifeguards are on patrol from mid-May until mid-October, making it easy for the whole family to relax and enjoy.
Dotted with luxury hotels, beach chairs are available for rent. But beware, they range wildly in price, so stay alert to signage and double-check prices before committing.
Located at the northeast tip of the island, it is about an hour’s easy drive from Palma. Public transport is also readily available to the beach, for those who prefer to let someone else do the driving!
So, come! Take advantage of what the pros already know and visit Cala Formentor, one of our many local treasures!
